Barcelona sees the next annual Burns Night Supper at Savour Academy, to celebrate the life and works of Robert Burns.
Hailed as Scotland’s Bard, the universal appeal of Burns’ poetry about nature and the human race comes from humble beginnings in rural Ayreshire.
Every year, on 25th January (the birthday of Robert Burns), the supper is held as an homage to the poet. You can expect traditional Scottish dishes and speeches. For a full write up of the evening itself, you can read about Burns Night here.
After a reception meet and greet, guests will be formally “piped in” with traditional Scottish music, followed by the 3 course supper with wine pairings, as follows:
- Cullen Skink – a smoked fish chowder, served with wheaten bread (Veg option potato leek soup) and wine pairing
- Haggis, Neeps and Tatties – lamb based dish with turnips and potato mash (Veg option for haggis) and wine pairing
- Cranachan – layered dessert of raspberries, toasted oats, whisky cream and wine pairing
During the evening there are comical speeches and poetry readings, where attendees are encouraged to participate, plus whisky toasts. If you have a favourite Robert Burns poem you’d like to read, then this is the place for it!
So join us at the Savour Academy table on Thursday, 25th January 2024 from 8pm.
Scots and internationals are invited to enjoy a cultural pairing of Scotland’s cuisine with local wines. And vegetarian options are available on request!
